Industry Standard Cross Reference Guide

ANSI/NEMA IM 60000-2021 is the new standard for thermoset composites in sheet, tube, and rod forms in the United States.

This new version of the standards for Industrial Laminated Thermosetting Products, previously designated as NEMA LI 1-1998 (R2011), was developed by the Insulating Materials section of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). The new version is designated as ANSI/NEMA IM 60000-2021 , consistent with NEMA’s new standard designation scheme of alphanumerical designations (two letters representing the section, followed by a five-digit number). It deals with the manufacture, testing, and performance of laminated thermosetting products in the form of sheets, rods , and tubes . A new format for the Industrial Laminate (Unclad) Standard has been established in which the requirements for the physical and electrical properties of the individual NEMA Grades have been consolidated and placed on individual Specification Sheets with this format, so all of the information on an individual material will be found in one place.

Although CE & G-3 tubing grades are recognized by ANSI/NEMA standards as a material form, property requirements are undefined at this time.

ANSI/NEMA IM 60000-2021 dimensional OD properties on LE tubes and L rods are plus only tolerances, Norplex-Micarta will certify to these specification with exception to the plus only tolerance. Norplex-Micarta will still be providing LE tubes and L rods to the tighter +/- tolerances dictated in NEMA LI 1-1998.
